Exelis Action Corps
In October 2012, Exelis officially launched its signature corporate citizenship program, a company-wide commitment to support our nation’s returning military service member, veterans and their families. Through a multi-year partnership with the world’s leading volunteer organization Points of Light, Exelis will be investing in the Community Blueprint initiative and engaging its employees in meaningful service that supports veterans and their families in their transition back into civilian life.
Led by Points of Light, Community Blueprint is a coalition of 55 military, veterans and service organizations created to drive effective service delivery, meaningful volunteer engagement and community support that have the result of improving the well-being of returning military service members and their families. As a result of the Exelis investment in Community Blueprint, new tools and resources will be created and 50 AmeriCorps members deployed in local communities across the United States to foster greater collaboration of local veterans’ services.
The Exelis Action Corps is the company’s volunteer-service program designed to create large-scale, team and individual volunteer activities and projects to support and engage these military veterans and their families in local communities. From providing interviewing coaching to a recently returning military service member, to painting a house for a disabled veteran, to tutoring the children of a soldier serving abroad, Exelis employees will be deployed to the frontline of veteran’s needs across the country.
The Exelis Action Corps aims to:
Engage the Exelis workforce in volunteer opportunities that serve military service members, veterans and their families.
Align the professional and personal skills of Exelis employees with skills-based volunteer opportunities.
Train Exelis employees to organize and lead local volunteer projects, creating dozens of service projects for employees, family, friends and community members to participate in each year.
