Nick Bobay

Corporate Vice President and President of Night Vision and Tactical Communications Systems Division, Exelis Inc.

Mr. Nicholas E. Bobay is President of the Exelis Night Vision and Tactical Communications Systems Division.  He was appointed to this position in December 2012, where he is responsible for all planning and execution of the newly formed Night Vision and Tactical Communications Systems Division’s business. Prior to this position, Mr. Bobay was Vice President and General Manager of the Exelis Geospatial Systems, Night Vision & Imaging business. 

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Bobay joined ITT in 1986. He has implemented lean and six-sigma principles at multiple sites within ITT Defense, which enabled high rate production meeting customer expectations of delivery and quality. At ITT, Mr. Bobay has held a series of increasingly responsible operations positions before being appointed Strategic Sourcing Director in 2004. In this role, he developed a benchmark subcontract methodology which helped to enable the ramp-up of SINCGARS systems to the U.S. Army to more than 6,000 systems, along with more than 20,000 ancillary devices, per month. In 2006, he served as Vice President, International Products and Services business area in Basingstoke, United Kingdom, where he grew the international segment of the Communications Systems Division into a $240 million business. In 2010 Nick was appointed Vice President and Global Business Director for program BEST, a corporate wide business process integration utilizing SAP ERP. He was then named Vice President, Defense and Information Solutions, McLean, Virginia, where he was responsible for the spin-off of the defense business segment from ITT Corporation.

Mr. Bobay earned a BS degree in Business Administration from Indiana Institute of Technology and a Masters in Business Administration in 2001. Mr. Bobay was presented the ITT Geneen Award in 2005 for his contributions to the SINCGARS program, and holds Value Based Six Sigma Black Belt, Master Black Belt and Lean Master certifications. He has also received the Gold Ring of Quality for lean implementations.

An Indiana native, Mr. Bobay, his wife Lori and their four children reside in the Roanoke, Virginia area.
