Christopher D. Young

Christopher (Chris) D. Young is president of Exelis Geospatial Systems and executive vice president of Exelis Inc. Mr. Young is responsible for managing the Geospatial Systems division of Exelis for which his major areas of focus are strategic planning, business development, product development and operational excellence. Mr. Young has led the organization to be increasingly responsive to customer needs and has created a highly productive business environment that operates on innovation and integrity.
Mr. Young first joined Exelis, formerly known as ITT Defense and Information Solutions, in 1982. Previously, Mr. Young was the president and general manager of ITT Space Systems Division, a position held since April 2006.
Prior to this position, Mr. Young served as vice president and director for ITT Space Systems’ Commercial and Space Sciences group in Fort Wayne, Ind. In this role, he was instrumental in producing the high-resolution imaging and sounding radiometers for meteorological satellite systems, which have become the world standard in weather imagery.
In 2003, Mr. Young was named director of Space Programs for ITT’s Aerospace/Communications division. He served in a series of managerial and project engineering positions before he was named director of space engineering for the division in 2001, where he was responsible for all space engineering activities, including process quality and process improvements.
Mr. Young is a member of the Aerospace Industries Association and the National Space Club. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University.
