McLEAN, Va., May 23, 2012 – For the third consecutive year, ITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) is the overall sponsor of the Women in Aerospace (WIA) conference, which is  taking place Friday, June 1, 2012, in Arlington, Va. This annual event is designed to further women’s opportunities and advancement in the aerospace industry worldwide.

This year’s conference, themed, “Aerospace 2012: Leading the Way,” features a keynote presentation from NASA’s Deputy Administrator Lori Garver. The luncheon speaker is Ambassador Gregory L. Schulte, currently serving as the deputy assistant secretary of defense for space policy. The conference agenda features professional development workshops and panel discussions about satellite servicing and the future of human space flight, followed by a networking reception.
In December 2011, Exelis Information Systems Vice President of Business Development Judy Smith was appointed to the board of directors of WIA. Exelis Geospatial Systems Director of External Affairs and Advocacy Dr. Minda Suchan is the conference co-chair.
